Deciding when to administer your injection

We make it easy to get into a weekly injection routine.

Your weight loss injectable is injected once a week on the same designated day and each pen contains 4 full doses. You can take it at any time of day, with or without meals. The important thing is to take it on the same day each week. We recommend planning a 15-minute window and slotting that into your weekly routine.

Write a weekly reminder on your kitchen calendar, set an alarm on your phone or add it to your online calendar. That way you’ll be reminded when it’s time to take your weekly dose. You’ll soon fall into an easy routine!

What if I need to change my injection day?

If necessary, you can change the day of your weekly injection, as long as it has been at least 3 days since your last injection. After selecting a new injection day, continue with once-a-week injecting on that new day. We don’t recommend you change your injection day often and when you do, you should still only take 4 doses over 4 weeks, at a rate of 1 per week.

What if I've forgotten to administer my injection?

What you should do depends on which weight loss injection you’re taking. You should follow the instructions in the relevant Patient Information Leaflet for your medication. It’s important to remember to never double dose your injections.

  • Mounjaro – take a missed dose within 4 days, or wait until your next scheduled injection day.

  • Wegovy – take a missed dose within 5 days, or wait until your next scheduled injection day.

Can I split my doses and get 8 injections from a pen?

Each pen type is designed to deliver 4 full doses and it won’t allow you to take half doses. Injecting a full dose, once per week, is the optimal delivery method for maximum weight loss. Trying to tamper with the pen to spread your doses with likely lead to a broken pen and/or less effective weight loss.
